Sainsbury's is one of the longest established independent businesses in Aberdeen today. We are also one of the few surviving family owned and run businesses in the city.

The business began in 1932 with a small shop at 174 Crown Street, Aberdeen by founder Noel Sainsbury. His equipment consisted of a treasured handcart, a tool bag and a few pieces of stock, but, more importantly a flourishing reputation for skilled upholstery work.

By 1939, with a growing success, we were able to relocate to more spacious premises in Fonthill Road where Noel and his family lived in the flat above.

In 1956 the bold and ambitious step was taken when the business moved into Holburn Street, where we remain today and now boast a large store with over 10,000 square feet spread over an impressive four floors.
